As you might have heard, Lakai Limited Footwear went through a recent change in ownership, followed by internal restructuring affecting both skate and in-house team. As a consecuence Mike Caroll and Rick Howard as the pillars of the brand as we know it have decided to discontinue their involvement with the brand and company.

Our partnership with the brand goes a long way back. Mosaic’s founder and CEO Philipp Schmidt has been contributing both personally and professionally to the brand’s growth across our sales territory throughout the last 20+ years. He used to be a team rider himself, became the German team and marketing manager and lastly started to carry Lakai as one of the very first brands in the portfolio of Mosaic Distribution.

Mosaic discontinues the distribution of Lakai

But we are writing to announce that we decided to discontinue our distribution agreement with Lakai by December 31, 2024. This decision comes after careful consideration, and we deeply value the dedication and hard work that all of you have shown by representing Lakai throughout the past decades in your shops, on your feet or in the framework of your sales meetings. Holiday 24 will be the last Lakai shipment processed, shipped and delivered under Mosaic Distribution.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for your efforts in building the brand, establishing lasting customer relationships, and achieving remarkable milestones within the skateboarding community. Your commitment has been instrumental in shaping our presence in key European markets, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together.

What happens now to our customers?

To ensure a smooth transition, you’ll be linked to the new ownership at Lakai: Marc, Albert and Joaquin will be the primary contact for all wholesale-related matters beginning January 1, 2025.

In the coming weeks, Marc and Albert will reach out to our mutual customers to introduce themselves and facilitate any necessary preparations for Spring 25 deliveries and your orders with Lakai moving forward. Marc and Albert will also guide you in the right direction concerning potential marketing and ambassador programs moving forward.
